Peanuts are a member of the bean family and thought to have originally been domesticated in Peru. Also known as groundnut the peanut was introduced to China by the Portuguese in the 17th century and now lead the world in production. Peanuts are a good source of Niacin, Folate, and fibre. Great raw, roasted, added to baking, as a satay or made into butter.
